Crusader College Camp

This exciting program has been created to help rising seniors enter senior year with a “jump start” on college applications and essays. Taught by one of our own ARHS College Counselors, the program is structured to be an interactive learning environment where students will work closely with fellow peers and complete the following:

  • Develop a preliminary college list
  • Complete the Common Application
  • Write several essay drafts

20 spots will be available for summer 2018.

Sample Program Schedule (all students attend both sessions)

Session 1 – Find Your Spot : 8:00 – 9:40 am

  • Identify needs and wants in the college experience
  • Utilize strengths and interest inventories
  • Research colleges using guidebooks and online tools
  • Assess individual academic and testing profiles as compared to those of recently admitted students at the colleges students are interested in
  • Develop a three-tiered college list
  • Complete the Common App

Session 2 – What’s Your Story?: 10:00 – 11:40 am

  • Put college essays in context and understand what the prompts are really asking
  • Identify which prompts (UC and Common App) will enable applicants to tell their story
  • Participate in brainstorming and essay writing activities
  • Receive feedback on essay drafts
